“Sara & Akhil’s retreats are thoughtfully curated, balancing structure with spaciousness. Every detail feels intentional — the flow of the yoga sessions to the quiet reflective moments, to the sense of community they gently foster among participants. There is never pressure to “get it right.” Instead, they encourage listening inward, honouring your body, and meeting yourself exactly where you are." — Shelley, Life Coach

What to expect?

We welcome you at the beautiful hotel near Chania, Crete where for 5 days we will practice Yoga, eat wholesome Greek food with access to one of Crete’s most famous coastline just 5 minute walk away. Check in is from around 3:00 PM on Tuesday, 6 April 2027, and we begin practicing that evening in our dedicated yoga space. A structured programme of morning and afternoon yoga practices follows. Included in the schedule will be guided meditations, breath work, and dedicated sessions exploring traditional yogic philosophy. There is plenty of free time to indulge in a swim, read by the pool, enjoy a treatment, or simply absorb the laid-back pace of the island. Included in the itinerary is a trip to the nearby historic city of Chania. Departures are after our final practice and breakfast on Saturday, 10th April 2027, around 11:30 AM. You can expect to leave feeling grounded, relaxed, and equipped with practical insights to enrich your ongoing yoga journey.

The Practice

Our practice together will be firmly grounded in the wisdom of ancient yogic traditions, providing a space to step past modern wellness labels and dive straight into the substance of the practice. Our classes fuse Sivananda, Hatha, and structured Yoga Flow styles, informed by our background in anatomy body mechanics and physical conditioning. Because we have the luxury of time, we will look closely at alignment, precision, and adjustments, giving you the chance to ask questions and build technical stability. Alongside the physical practice, we will explore the roots of yoga philosophy. Drawing inspiration from Crete's deeply matriarchal history, our discussions will touch on the historical evolution of the texts, moving past modern new-age trends to look at what the tradition actually says about personal discipline, innate creativity, and stepping into one's own authentic power. .

Our venue for this study is the Blue Calm Hotel, a beautifully accessible, laid-back space designed entirely around ease and relaxation. The Weather

Early April is a beautiful, transitional time to visit Crete. The island is exceptionally fresh and green, and you will completely avoid the heavy summer crowds. You can expect pleasant, mild daytime temperatures averaging between 15°C and 20°C—perfectly comfortable for outdoor movement, walking, and relaxing by the pool in the sunshine. The Mediterranean Sea sits at around 16°C to 17°C at this time of year; it is brisk and refreshing, ideal for a quick dip after a focused morning practice. What to pack: We recommend packing light, comfortable clothing for warm, sunny afternoons (like t-shirts and shorts), but definitely bring a warm sweater, fleece, or light jacket for the cooler coastal evenings, as well as a rain jacket just in case of an occasional spring shower. Sunglasses, sunscreen, and good walking shoes for exploring Chania are essential.

Who is it for?

The Crete Yoga Study is ideal for anyone who wants to dedicate real time to their practice and move with clear intention rather than performance. Whether you are returning to movement, looking to refine your current routine, or curious about the traditional philosophy behind the postures, this retreat welcomes all levels. You will be fully supported by expert guidance that respects both the physical anatomy of the body and the traditional roots of the practice, helping you connect deeply with your own movement and breath. Because the Blue Calm Hotel is exceptionally accessible, laid-back, and sits just a flat, five-minute stroll from the beach, this retreat is also a perfect fit for anyone simply looking for deep relaxation. If you want to cut through the modern labels of the wellness industry and enjoy a genuine, unpretentious break away in a true holiday environment—balancing focused study with quiet afternoons by the pool or the sea—you belong here. .

Meet your hosts

We are not followers of any specific organisation or guru, but rather admirers and students of the vast, complex resource that is the yogic tradition. While we are serious about the precision of our teaching, we approach yoga with simplicity and lightheartedness. We believe that yoga belongs to everyone—it stretches far beyond modern stereotypes, and it can be as simple or as deep as you need it to be. We bring a unique blend of traditional lineage and clinical body expertise to our retreats.
Akhil was born in India, and his early immersion in Indian culture provides a natural, authentic insight into the traditions of yoga. As a natural healer with an extensive background in mountaineering, climbing, and injury rehabilitation through massage, his understanding of human anatomy is profound, ensuring every student receives careful, individual attention.
Sara is a former martial arts practitioner and triathlete who integrates various movement modalities with physiotherapy, pre- and post-natal exercise, and injury rehabilitation. Her personal experience recovering from sports injuries drives her highly effective, structured methodology. Together, our style is rooted in classical Hatha Yoga, delivered with absolute precision and zero pretension.
